- Now supports Adobe Acrobat/Reader 6.0 on Windows
(Still supports Acrobat/Reader 4 and 5 on both Windows and Mac OS 8 & 9.)
- Supports Authorware 7 for authoring and playback on Windows
(Still supports authoring and playback on Mac OS 8 & 9 via Authorware 4 - 6.5.)
- Improved performance
In version 3.0 of INM PDF Xtra on Windows, the Acrobat/Reader application is now launched in a different manner, with the result that several related issues are fixed and overall performance is improved:
- There is now no need to use a dummy PDF sprite to keep the Acrobat/ Reader application open while moving from one PDF sprite to another. The Adobe application will remain open as long as Authorware is open
- Because the Acrobat/Reader application is only launched once during the piece, there is a great improvement in the speed of opening successive PDF documents
- PDF_LaunchAcrobat can be used to launch a specific version of Adobe Reader from CD-ROM and this application will remain open throughout the piece. Therefore there is no need to worry that an installed version of the Reader will be automatically launched from the user's hard drive
- After calling PDF_LaunchAcrobat, there is no need to wait for any length of time before displaying a PDF sprite. When the method returns, the Adobe application is completely loaded and ready to display documents
- At authoring time, starting and stopping a movie containing a PDF sprite is now quicker
The #enableUpdateFromURL property in the PDF_Open method was not working properly. It is now fixed.
- The PDF_Find() method is not supported on Acrobat 6. If your project needs search functionality, display the Adobe Acrobat toolbar and scroll bars. Users will then be able to use the Search function from the Acrobat 6 toolbar
- In Acrobat 6 (not Adobe Reader), with PDF Xtra's global application option set to "Acrobat" or "Any", the custom display options (toolbar, scrollbars, etc.) do not have any effect; PDF documents will appear with their default display settings. If PDF Xtra's application option is set to "Reader" the custom display options work, whether the user has Acrobat or just Adobe Reader
If your application uses Acrobat and you want the documents to appear without toolbars or scrollbars, open the document in Acrobat, change the document display properties, and save the document with the desired settings. |
