Watch this 2 minute animated demo to see how easy it is to get started with Impressario.
The First Steps hands-on tutorial guides you through the basic steps needed to integrate PDF documents in Director using INM Impressario. The tutorial is divided into three units and takes about 20 minutes to complete.
Just follow the instructions in the tutorial document to edit the partially completed Director movies provided. Your finished projects will display, print and interact with PDF documents. You can even reuse the sample movies provided to create your own PDF-enabled projects.
Note: INM Impressario is required to do the tutorial. The PDF documents featured in this tutorial were graciously supplied by August Home Publishing Company. They are excerpts from the company's "Woodworking Tips" CD-ROM, which uses INM Impressario.
Combining the power of INM Impressario and INM VizionDB, this toolkit allows powerful searching across multiple PDF documents. The Searchable Library Wizard guides you through the process of creating a Searchable Library, which includes indexing the content of PDF documents and optionally storing metadata ( document properties).
Once you have created a Searchable Library, you can use the Flash-based Search Panel in your Director movie, or create your own search interface using the pre-coded Search Behaviors.
This Searchable Library Toolkit includes the Searchable Library Manual, a castlib containing the Search Panel and behaviors, and samples to help you get started quickly.

Note: You will need to download and install both INM VizionDB 4.1 & INM Impressario 3 in order to use The Searchable Library Toolkit. Director MX or higher is also required. |
If you know Flash, you can edit and customize the source files for the automatic Impressario toolbars -- change the graphics, create different rollover effects, etc.
Import your final SWF file into the Impressario Toolbars castlib, located in the Libs/Impressario/ folder of
Director, for easy access through Director's Library Palette.
Download the latest versions of the XML Locales files, which include Brazilian Portuguese and Spanish. To change the language the Find dialog and messages to the user at runtime, call IMP_SetLanguage() with the filename prefix that matches the XML language file of your choice. See the User Manual or Help files for more information.
INM would like to thank Wagner Werneck for the Brazilian Portuguese translation, Oscar Fernandez Archs. for the Spanish translation, and Alex da Franca for the German translation.
The Impressario PDF Viewer lets you easily pop up a resizable
window containing a PDF document, with toolbar and scrollbars,
from your Director movie. Sample movie and instructions are
included.

Learn how easy it is to create dynamic PDF content in Director that can be viewed immediately and printed. In this sample, a formatted, printable proposal is created on the fly, by mapping text and images from Director into a PDF template that is created using Adobe LiveCycle Designer (PDF templates can also be created from Adobe Acrobat forms).
INM Impressario is the best overall printing solution for Director, whether content is visible on screen or not. This sample demonstrates how to create a printable product catalog in PDF form, based on data that comes from an INM VizionDB database.
This sample demonstrates the way Impressario handles various types of hyperlinks and forms. It also shows how you can trap and handle user interaction with the PDF to:
- Display tooltips on controls
- Redirect hyperlinks at runtime
- Validate data entry and calculate form fields
- Display contextual text, animation, etc. depending on the current page in the PDF
Need to update a logo or other branding elements within your PDFs? This sample movie demonstrates how to replace a bitmap image within your PDF document.
It comes with a pre-scripted behavior that lets you choose horizontal and vertical alignment parameters (Left, Right, Top, Bottom, Center) to align your new image image within the original image rectangle, and also allows you to select the background color.
For more details on replacing images, please refer to the Impressario Help docs. In Director, click Xtras >INM Impressario > Help.
This sample movie demonstrates how you can make an Impressario project that is accessible to those with visual and motor difficulties. It uses Director's Accessibility behaviors, available in Director MX and higher. Use this sample as a guide when developing your own accessible projects with INM Impressario.
Open and run the movie accessibility-sample.DIR. The "readme" instructions open in a pop-up PDF Viewer. |
